Solstice Tree Farm
Cut-your-own Christmas trees · Big Sandy, Texas · Upshur County
A family-run East Texas tree farm on Highway 80 between Gladewater and Big Sandy, with hand-sheared Virginia pines to cut after a hayride out to the field, plus pre-cut Fraser fir from North Carolina.
A hayride carries you to the Virginia pine field, where you get a free bow saw to cut your tree and a ride back with it. Staff shake, blow off and net each tree, and twine is supplied for the roof. The pines take five or six seasons to grow and are pruned by hand, while Fraser firs come pre-cut from a family farm in North Carolina.
Back at the barn there are homemade drinks, cookies, apple cider donuts, hot dogs, s'mores kits, fireside seating and yard games. Fresh wreaths and tree stands are for sale. Leashed pets are welcome. The farm is open only a handful of days, so plan around them.
