About U-Pick Spots
U-Pick Spots is a guide to farms where you harvest your own: cut-your-own Christmas trees now, and pick-your-own fruit, pumpkins and flowers as the seasons turn. We are an independent site and farms do not pay to be listed.
How we check each farm
Every farm is researched from primary sources. We read the farm's own website first, then its social pages, the state growers' association and the state's agriculture department or university extension service, and local news. We never copy listings from other farm directories.
A farm goes on the list only when:
- it lets you pick or cut for yourself, not just buy pre-picked produce or pre-cut trees,
- it is open to the public, and
- we found signs that it was open in the past season or has announced the coming one.
If we cannot confirm a detail, we leave it out rather than guess. That is why some listings have more details than others.
What the details mean
- Prices are the farm's published regular price for a tree you cut yourself, labeled with the season they apply to. Most farms only post new prices once the season opens, so last season's price is the best guide until then.
- Season shows the farm's posted dates for this year when they are out. Until then, we show what the farm says about when it usually opens.
- Last checked is the date we last confirmed the listing against its sources. The sources are listed at the bottom of every farm page.
Corrections
Seasons, prices and hours change every year, and a farm can close early when its trees sell out. Always check with the farm before you drive out. If you spot something out of date, or you run a farm and want to update your listing, let us know and we will check it again.
