Pioneer Tree Farm
Cut-your-own Christmas trees · McHenry, Illinois · McHenry County
A McHenry farm that has sold cut-your-own trees since the 1970s, with organically grown, hand-pruned pines and spruces, free wagon rides to the field and a warming house with cocoa.
Hand saws are provided, or bring your own, but chainsaws and axes are not allowed. Wagon rides out to the trees, shaking and baling are all included in the single tree price. The fields hold pines, spruces and firs, with Scotch pine and Colorado spruce among the main varieties.
The warming house sells handmade crafts and hot cocoa, kids can feed the chickens, and a relocated log cabin is open to look around. Leashed dogs are welcome outdoors but not inside the warming house. Bring cash or a check, because cards are not accepted, and check the short list of open days before you go.
