A Clarke County farm outside Berryville with more than 30 acres of hand-sheared trees, where you can tag your Canaan fir, concolor or Norway spruce in October and come back to cut it closer to Christmas.
Moose Apple runs on reservations. You can visit on a fall tagging weekend to claim a tree, then return on a booked cutting date, or simply reserve a cutting slot. The reservation deposit is credited toward the tree. Handsaws and sleds are provided, and staff shake, drill and bale the tree and help tie it to your car.
Pre-cut Fraser firs and concolors are also sold, with smaller sizes available on site and larger ones ordered online. The shop carries Christmas decor and gifts, and custom wreaths and bows can be pre-ordered.
