Bear Valley Farm

Cut-your-own Christmas trees · Glenville, North Carolina · Jackson County

A Fraser fir farm in the Glenville highlands marked by an old red caboose, where visitors pick a tree and then warm up beside a fire with cowboy coffee and hot chocolate.

Staff will help you find the right Fraser fir in the field, and trees are baled for the drive home. The state growers association lists hayrides, wreaths, a Christmas shop and a campfire with marshmallows among the farm's offerings.

The farm also keeps miniature donkeys and Pyrenean mastiffs and has a general store and gem mining. It sits near Lake Glenville, so it pairs well with a day in Cashiers. Opening day is listed differently in two places on the farm's site, so check before you go.
