Nature's Best Christmas Trees
Cut-your-own Christmas trees · Poplar Grove, Illinois · Boone County
A 15-acre family tree farm in Boone County at the end of a half-mile lane, open for cut-your-own over Thanksgiving weekend with five firs, spruces and pines at one per-foot price.
Bow saws are provided, or staff will cut the tree for you, and a marked pole helps you check height. Every tree gets a fresh base cut, baling and netting, and help loading the car. Fraser, Canaan and concolor fir, Norway spruce and eastern white pine grow here, some reaching about 16 feet. Height is measured to the upper whorl, so you have room to trim for a topper.
The farm is open only three days a year, so plan around Thanksgiving weekend and bring cash. Leashed, friendly dogs are welcome. The same family sells raw wildflower honey from its own hives in season, and custom wreaths are available.
