Jones Family Farms
Cut-your-own Christmas trees · Shelton, Connecticut · Fairfield County
A sixth-generation family farm in the Shelton hills that has grown Christmas trees since the 1940s, with roughly 200 acres to hike for your own spruce, fir or pine.
Handsaws are provided, while chainsaws and axes are banned. Bring a tarp to drag your tree to the nearest baling station, and on weekends a shuttle runs from the stations back to the main lot. Weekend visits need an online reservation. Each family leaves with a dated pewter ornament, and free twine is handed out for the car.
The hills can be cold and rocky, so wear sturdy shoes and gloves and measure your ceiling first. Leashed dogs are welcome in the fields but not in the buildings. The Harvest Kitchen serves cookies and mulled cider, and the barnyard shops sell wreaths and ornaments.
